Do the Nissan Navara D40 2010 models have free wheeling capability?
If not can free wheeling hubs be fitted?

Welcome to the forums.

I don't think the new ones do but there is a thread somewhere about adding it to an older model I'm sure. Try searching or just looking through the drive train section. Anything can be done if you really want it bad enough it;s a matter of how bad you want it and how much you want to pay.

There are some that can be modified to fit a D40, but your looking at $2500+, and you will need to find different wheels to suit too.

It was my understanding that all D40 models had auto hubs.

This means that unless you've engaged 4WD, the front axles are free-wheeling automatically.

Nope, not auto hubs, the front wheels diff and driveshaft are always turning, lock up is done by the transfercase.

All D40 are the same.
As far as economy goes, probably not alot in it, If you jack up the front it very easy to spin one wheel, so there isn't a lot of resistance/drag in the gearing, bearings etc.
