Hello all, this is my first post. I have a stx dual cab which I bought new 2006.
It has crossed the Simpson, travelled the Hay River road, towed my kedron van down the Darling, toured the Kimberleys and a lot more. It has 98K on the clock. I have smashed the radiator in the desert, (GPS coordinates for the abandoned bash plate can be supplied), has had the oil seals on the rear diff and front drive shaft replaced and a warped head planed and for six years the bonnet catch has squeaked. I find it almost unstoppable in sand and this makes life a lot easier. It is sporting six new alloy wheels thanks to the recent recall.
I have a question to ask - I have genuine nissan roof bars to which I attach a basket. These bars wreck the paint and the door rubbers. Are there roof racks available for this vehicle which can be screwed to the roof??
Looking forward to more conversation in the future,

Jumbo Pete.

Welcome to the forum!

Sounds like your ute has had a great life, that's the sort of thing my wife and I do - we've had our car since new (2009). It's wearing nearly 87,000km now and it's similarly unstoppable.

The roof bars that bolt to the threaded holes in the door opening are about the only ones that will take the load. You could put the Titanium Edition/STX550 roof bars on which require a total of 16 holes to be drilled in the roof but I doubt they'd carry as much dynamic load as the bars that bolt to the side, because the door surround is a lot stronger than the roof.

The standard bars take 95kg dynamic (I think around 250kg static). I don't know what the Titanium/550 bars can handle - hopefully Justdrinkbeer will spot this and let us know, or Fatboy, either of whom would know or be able to get that answer.

Do you have a canopy?
