Maps for use in OziExplorer

Hey all,

For some reason (either due to tiredness or stupidity ) I cant seem to find anything in here on maps that people use with OziExp.

So i'm after a set of digital maps for use when 4wd'ing (in Victoria, High Country, Noojee, Toolangi ect).
I have a 2din head unit that has GPS and can run OziExplorer on it, but i'm yet to decide what maps I buy to go with it. Some people say HEMA others say Rooftop, then there's all the other types as well.

So just wondering if anyone has a similar setup and can help me as to which maps I purchase, also the best ratio to look for ie. 25k or 50k??


Any help/thoughts would be much appreciated.

you can get the 250k (i think) topos for free from geoscience. Good maps

or buy all the hema maps. They come with them

there is also west print maps to add to the other you mentioned

Thanks for the reply, but is 250k topo a bit too "zoomed out" as such when looking at a 7" screen?

The geoscience maps are really good and will have most surveyed roads in them

They just don't have information like "poor track condition" or phone numbers of servo/accommodation like the hema maps.

But I just finished d/ling them. Where do you install the hema maps file? Into the maps section on ozi explorer?

Cooper, sorry mate. Forgot to reply to your PM. You can change the options in oziexplorer to tell it what folder to look in for maps and then you can put it in whatever folder you like. You only need to use the OZF2 files in that torrent I showed you. These have already been formatted for use in ozi. I don't have my car with me to check the menu where the options are changed in ozi but don't remember it being difficult.

The OZF2 files are for use in the OziExplorer on the PC version though, if you want to use them on Oziexplorer CE (windows mobile) then you have to use Img2Ozf to convert them to the ozfx3 format. You can get that program from the oziexplorer website if need be.

I have these maps installed on my unit. They don't cover all areas of Victoria. I recently installed a map for the Wombat State forest area. it seems to be a paper map scanned and converted to ozie explorer format .I used it today it works well and quite clear
