LSD Oil problem

New member so hello to all. Purchased new D22 2.5 only traveled 7000 klm and had grating noise coming from rear RH wheel every time I turned right. Thought it was a brake issue. Stopped at a auto repair was told LSD oil was contaminated and needed replacing Cost $170. Has any one else had this problem?

Welcome to the forum!

We've had a few mentions of diff noises, usually seems to happen after a deep dunking and stuff gets into the breather. Solutions are generally to raise the breathers to prevent anything getting in.

Welcome Henry, i know you will gain much out the forums - there is some great folk here who offer really good advise ...

Tony's post reminds me that every time i put my car in for a service - i have insisted that the Diff's are checked for contamination because i do water crossings when i go off road. I have not yet put diff breather extension in - but its the next thing on the list of extras that i want to do.

There is a thread about this very problem and as Tony mentioned its been water contamination.

The guys that have had this, have had/done drained the contaminated diff oil and refilled with the correct LSD oil and fixed the problem.

Also mentioned was that some LSD diff's infact did'nt have LSD compatible oil filled from the factory so again needing a drain and refill.

As well there is a thread re fitting extended breather tubing to the rear diff with some pics.
Have a go on the search feature and youll get educated.

Otherwise good choice in model...UP THE '22's.
