Hi guys More problems with my diesel 08stx auto and was hoping someone could help me out.
If I put the foot down and it revs high it looses drive. Engine runs and can rev engine slightly but the drive is lost. It resets when I turn the ute off and start again.
Had it at the auto tranny guys last week as it's hard shifting from 1-2 and 2-3 under load. They think it might be the tps sensor so I'm wondering if both problems could b related ?
I cleaned the map sensor and rebooted the ecu but no go...
Is there a boost controller on these motors?
I want to replace the throttle sensor to see. Dose this have to be zeroed out to the ecu by Nissan or just plug and play ?
Anywhere good to buy oem parts from beside Nissan ? And is there an on line parts finder for these. It's Spanish if that makes any difference.
Sorry lots of ????'s

Cheers Jeff

most common cause for this is excessive fuel rail pressure

see if you can get the fault code read, that will point you in the right direction

Just had this same problem fixed. Either get a new SCV (Suction Control Valve) or get it cleaned. Mine only required a clean. Fuel pressure was reading 196psi instead of 184 they run stock. SCV is located on the fuel pump in engine bay. Take it to a decent diesel shop and they will sort you out.

If you mean the car seems to go into limp mode, then yes that's likely to be the SCV as Shaunus points out.

If you mean that the engine has lots of power but can't transmit it through the gearbox, then perhaps the gearbox needs attention?

Also, just in case (and because this is easy to test and cheap to fix), go very carefully over the vacuum lines to the turbocharger actuator. They could look good, but if they become brittle they might not seal on the connectors very well.

I'll spray the lines down with soapy water and check them out.
It looses all power when it happens not just a little..

Cheers Jeff

Hi guys,

I was about to post a query then I found this thread. My problem appears to be similar to Jeff's, happened twice to me and latest was only yesterday.

I was going uphill and I put my foot down and suddenly lost drive, I was able to get up the hill but at just around 10kph, so went side of the road and stop and started engine where it went back to normal. This happened to me last year as well. I mentioned this to my dealer when I had it serviced, they said they need to have the ute for at least 3 days to check, didn't do this as I can't afford not to have a car at the time.

I have a D40 ST Model 2011 and experienced the problem after one year, can a Suction Control Valve mentioned in this thread be faulty at that early stage ?

thanks !!

Yes. Age seems to have very little relevance to their running life. As stated above, had mine checked out by some diesel guys in town. They suspected either too much fuel pressure or not enough (too much being the SCV at fault - not enough meaning fuel pump was no good). Took the valve out, cleaned it, re-installed and works 100% now. Fuel pressure was about 12psi too high which was causing the limp mode under heavy acceleration eg. over taking.

Cost me $236 and 2hrs. Car now runs MUCH smoother and quieter. Also removed the EGR blanking plate at the same time. Cars generally driving much nicer.

Well I pulled the scv cleaned it out and reset ecu and she's running sweet !! Thanks Guys for the help ...
