Does this seem like a good deal, i know the kms are high but it seems to be pretty tidy and looked after.

Those VG series engines are pretty much bulletproof.

They were designed in the 1980's, all the bugs have been ironed out.

There thirsty, but thats expected.

The V6 gets the big diffs.

R200A front diff and H233B rear diff.

Lockers available for both.

We've done 140 000kms in our 2004 D22, so the kms are high, but as long as all the servicing has been done, and the oils are clean, no diff chatter etc, probably be a good buy for the price. (As a reference we paid $21000.00 for ours which had done 100 000kms when we picked it up.)

As Dave says, the VG V6 motor is great, needs a bit of intake/exhaust work to get them to breathe better, but otherwise good. And yes, they are thirsty bastards. I struggle to get over 500kms out of a tank.

That's the VG33E engine? VG's are decent engines, that's why most zeds seem to keep them in the car.

Although 320k on a petrol engine is pushing it. I'd probably rebuild the engine as a safe guard and guarantee some extra long life out of it.

^ Yep, VG33E.

I reckon 400,000km's is achievable out of the VG33E. If its been maintained.

i didnt end up buying that ute, i brought a 03 str 3.0lt td, silver, 259000km, full service history very tidy inside and out with 5 months rego for $13650, thought that was a pretty good deal.

Very possible. A mate just pushed his 80's merc to 650k. I didn't think that was possible, but turns out it was!

Smart move on the purchase, a diesel is always a safe bet IMVHO.

I don't think there that thirsty, really. My D40's not really any better then my old D22 V6 on fuel, but the D40 has much more torque.
