Hello hello,

Just bought myself a DX D22 1998 dual cab.....deluded enough to think I can fix most things myself, here I am ready to bleed you of all knowledge!

Love the 'truck' , as I like to call it, just a few things I need to fix.

The interior light comes on for all doors except for the driver's door. I'm assuming I need to fix the door switch..anyone know how to get to it and replace/fix it?

(If you could explain as if you were talking to a female would be great)

Cheers
Tracey

PS. Anyone interested in buying a 1997 E39 BMW...beautiful car !

Welcome to the forum!

Can't help you specifically with the door switch location but the manual does show that it's a simple earth-connect, meaning that there's just a single wire coming from it, and the other side of the switch is connected to earth. When the switch is activated, the wire is then connected to earth (body, negative) and the light circuit is complete.

So, it might just be a bad connection to the chassis - sometimes caused by corrosion. It's also possible it's just the switch, being the driver's door it usually gets used more than the others (except in taxi cabs I guess!).
