Nice lookin forum I'm glad I found it ,,, I was reading one of the post regarding a fuel pump like sound comming from a d40 diesel when everything is turned off mine does the same thing it will go on through the night as it is parked near our bed I'm not a dumb idiot so to speak I have a good idea on cars but it's as if it's got an electric fuel pump that keeps loosing pressure tho I'm certain it shouldn't have one its got 20k on it and iv had it since new and haven't touched a spanner to it so I know I haven't fitted a cheap sounding fuel pump in the back any info would be swell cheers robbo

Not suffering for the same problem I haven't really bothered looking into it any further than reading the few posts already on this forum but from memory there wasn't many solutions in those threads just people reporting the issue. I guess one day someone will have an answer.

Same here - no real idea what it is. The diesels don't have lift pumps or pumps in the fuel tank (like the petrol version does) so it'll probably be a mystery until someone sits with theirs long enough and tracks the noise down.
