Help with converting from well body to tray

Hay guys,
I have been thinking about taking off the wellbody and the arb canopy on my Nissan navara D22 and converting it to a tray back with a canvas canopy. This will create more storage room for my gear and make my stuff more accessable.

Nissan do an alloy tray for $1600 (Triple M trays) and there is a company (Im in perth) that can fit a custom made canvas canopy for about the $1000 mark.

I am, however, a bit concerned that the canvas canopy will be a hell of a lot easier to get into then the canopy.

So to all the people out there that have a canvas set up, how have u found it security wise, dust wise, storage wise?? etc.etc.

my last ute i had steel mesh running the whole way around with gas strut doors. nice and secure. pain in the ass if you had to take it off. id consider a steel tray, both trays ive had one the last two utes have been tl engineering ones. cant fault em.
