I've just bought a 2006 3l turbo and love it, but...., it seems really weak in top gear. I'v e been driving a patrol and wonder if I'm expecting too much. On even mild hills the Navara drops from 100 to 80. also, if I put my foot down in top, it takes ages to get going. Any similar problems?
Roberto.

Sounds about right.

With the mods on mine it holds 100km/h on hills.

I haven't added any extra fuel.

My new turbo is going on soon which should improve things to.

I was going to pay someone but decided to do it myself as a good mechanic is hard to find.

Mate you can chip it, intercool it.

A decent exhaust fromthe turbo back really helps to.

Welcome robertcookson.. Enjoy the 2006 model.

It's a 3ltr diesel - 5th doesn't have power. It is normal to drop back to 4th on hills - unless you've done the stuff Dave mentioned.

I've got a chip (set on 7) and a 3" exhaust and dump pipe, no muffler, and the difference is impressive - but occassionally I drop back to 4th to keep the revs up.

You'll get used to it - we all did!
