Hey all, was hoping someone would be able to tell me whether or not the drain/fill plugs are the same on the Gearbox and the Transfer case?
I suspect mines due for a service, couldn't tell you when it was done last and the gearbox is getting hot even on fairly cool days without anything on the back.
Also, I read somewhere that there is a seal in-between the two boxes that can perish and leak transfer oil into the gearbox but I'm not sure if that would make it run hot? I'm meant to be going camping in a couple weeks and would need Low-4 on the beach to get to our camp site and currently I'm a little nervous to engage 4wd at all. My thinking is if I replace the oil in both and over time the transfer case ends up low again then I know its seeping through. There are no signs of leakage around the plugs or shafts that I can see.
