There is a poxy plastic surround (as in attached photo) which the gear lever boot clips into.
Most of the holding lugs on mine have broken off and the boot keeps dropping out if I hit a good bump or cattle grid.
A nissan dealer in Perth has quoted me $395 as the boot and plastic surround come as 1 piece. They apparently coat them in gold and platinum in Melbourne before they ship it to Perth hahahaha
I've got one quote from QLD which is a lot cheaper but still over the $200 mark. Still waiting on some other quotes.
Anyone got a suggestion and don't be rude LOL

I'll buy the complete set up if I have too but I ain't paying the Perth price haha

Yes that Perth price is excessive, I'll be interested to see how you go. Mine is on the way out and while it's not a priority I have not been game enough to chase a price lol.
 
use loctite on the "leather" to the plastic surround (and then on the plastic surround as well if those clips are also missing but they are metalic) and it will stay solid forever. i place my wallet and cigars with the lighter there (LHD so 4x4 lever is closer to driver) and i think i glued it back at 2005? looks like factory and doesnt move or rattle a bit.
to remove that just undo the gear "cap" by turning counter clock wise, then pull the whole thing up gently.
 
loctite 406 is the glue i always use its the best thing for plastics and byproducts of that, i dont know how easy will it be to get in AU but a small touch of this magic baby on the "leather" metalic frame to the plastic surround (once you remove it you will know what i am talking about) and it will be problem solved.
 
Believe it or not, I do know how to take the knobs of the gear sticks to take the bloody thing off.
It can't stay as it is with the boot dropping out all the time.
A couple of the metal retainer clips are still there but all the plastic **** has broken off.
A full glue job could be the go.
Now that I think about it, I'll give it go and glue the little sucker.

Gear Shift Flexi-cover.

You can repair your plastic Surround by welding it together again,and cutting off the Crap Plastic or Rubber Flex section and rivet a new Leather Flexi Section to this then screw this to your Floor Pan Section,

The Leather you will use is friom an old or new Leather Welding Jacket you are going to buy second Hand, along with a Sailmakers Needle and Sailmakers Thread,
and cut and stich this together while you and your Good lady sit watching T.V. in a couple of Evenings, just take your time and watch your fingers while doing this
Project!

You will cut the Leather from the Shoulder Section of your Welding Jacket or the
Knee Section of a set of Welders Long Pants, both are very heavy Leather and theses sections will give you a wide sleeve section to trim into your desired shapethat will not let you down in your Lifetime, and you can polish this to any colour you wish with Boot polish after you make the unit for around $60.00 or so!

I couldn't be stuffed trying to glue things into place so got a new one from Nizzbits.
My nav is almost 13 years old so the new boot and surround will outlast me.
