Welcome to the forum!

The STR (D22) comes in diesel only and it's a milder tune than the diesel D40 which has a more aggressive boost. The D40 also comes in a petrol V6 which has more horsepower but also uses more fuel (compared to the diesel, not your SSV).

The D22 has a slightly (175mm) smaller cabin front-to-rear than the D40 and that can be seen in the rear seat area. The D40 has more comfortable seats.

Both are good work vehicles, you can put lift kits in both although they use different suspensions (D22 uses torsion bars up front, D40 uses coil-over-shock, both have leaf spring rears). Some D22s came without intercoolers and I'd recommend that if yours is missing this, budget one into the vehicle pronto. Also consider adding an EGT gauge and wait for the turbo to cool before shutting down the engine.

The D40's manual clutch is an issue. If you are going to tow anything, lean heavily in the direction of the D40 auto. The D22's clutch is better, but autos are far superior for weighty tows and the D22 doesn't come in an auto unless you bolt one in yourself.

Welcome mate.

Id be checking those mine spec vehicles out very very well.

Enjoy the site.
