Hi Everyone,I have had a navara 2005 str from new and twice now have had water in the fuel which has activated the fuel imbolisation light and shut down the engine only allowing me to do approx750 rpm.
This easter I had water go through the car up to the seats in the Gilbert river and could not start my car for 2 days until this light went off (although I had drained all the water and changed the filter).
The problem may have been fairly serious if I had my kids in the car and we were stuck on the bank for 2 days.
My question is,how do I reset the light or by-pass it in case of emergency?
I will submit photo's later

Welcome to the forum!

I think the first thing I'd be doing is looking for breather hoses and routing them up as high as possible, either to the top of the engine bay or even running them up the back of the cabin or attached to the bonnet-side of the snorkel (not the vehicle's outside where branches could snag the tubes, but on the driver's side of the outside of the tube itself).

These breathers would include the diffs, transfer case, fuel tank etc.

As for the emergency, what I'd try is this: write down the trip meter values in case you use them for fuel economy, then pop the battery negative lead off, press the brake pedal, then put the lead back on and try again. That'll reset your ECU and may remove the error condition.
