Hi all, just purchased myself a 2011 D40 ST (my first 4wd ever) and I am nothing but happy with it. I have been doing a lot of reading on here and I have a lot more to do. This forum seems to be filled with a lot of knowledgeable people and I can't wait to pick everyone's brain. So hi again to everyone.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

First thing is first Chip Exaust
Secondly SAS lol

There is plenty on knowledge on here i hope it is as helpful to you ad it was me me.

GDay,

Chip the exhaust?

I will be driving from cairns to Perth soon in it.

Welcome mate,

If ur doin cairns to perth, the first things u should get is a good quality bullbar, uhf radio and some decent spotties, lost tbing you wanna do is get up close and personal with some wild life n destroy your new truck.
Than start lookin at decent tyres n maybe a lift

Shane

Welcome to the forums mate, I would be buying a bullbar(if it doesn't already have one) if you are planning a trip like that, but aside from that, Enjoy the new ute,

Brett

welcome mate

Bullbar and Radio - just assurance to protect your vehicle from wild life and if you get stuck somewhere you can radio everyone

Welcome to te forum Tez,
what do you want to do with the Nav? do you intend to go bush with it? do you intend on hitting as many 4x4 tracks as you can? or is it for towing a boat, caravan, ect??
Once you know that then you can decide which way to go with the mods if any at all.
Bullbar and better lights are a must IMO.

Welcome to the forum!

For a trip like that I'd do things in this order:

Steel bullbar, spotties, UHF 80CH radio, long range fuel tank. If you're not towing, a Long Ranger fitted by ARB will give you about 1400km of range. Add 5 jerry cans to take your fuel load up to the legal maximum of 250L of fuel and your range is around 2400km.

If you still have cash, some DVD headrests for those in the back seat are invaluable.
