Have Nissan Nivara D40 STX Deisel 2007 and upon starting up engine i am getting code 352 flashing up for 2seconds thenit goes on to normal ks and so forth . There is a very strong smell coming from the car also?

Would anyone have any suggestions on what it could relate to?

Many Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The Nissan workshop manual has 4-digit codes eg P1147. What is presenting this 3-digit number to you? If it's a non-Nissan reader (Nissan use a device called "CONSULT-II" or "CONSULT-III") then it may be interpreting the codes.

Is there anything strange happening to the vehicle, operationally? What does the smell remind you of? Oil?

the smell is like burnt rubber .....or plastic /rubber..... wheni turn on the car it comes up with
(picture of spanner) -352. There is no real change to the performance of hte car just this smell and it lingers even if the car is parked all day you can smell it in the car park.

When mine comes up with the spanner, the number keeps changing after I drive it - that's how many km to the next service, in my vehicle. Does yours stay at -352?

Some of my check lights stay on for a couple of seconds after turning on the ignition, but on a cold start, by the time the glow light is out and the engine is then started they're all gone. It generally means my car is working fine.

The smell might be something stuck to the exhaust. Either a pickup from the road, or a hose/wire that's gotten too close. It's a pretty full engine bay and with the turbo up on the left side, with stuff running along behind it, there's a chance that something could have sagged onto the exhaust.

I think you'll also find -352 is actually 352ks past the service interva. Reset the service interval by holding the trip meter button down for several second after the spanner comes up, if you error code changes the next time you turn the key don't be alarmed.

Thank you both for that......yeah purchased the car second hand about 4 monthsago and they did do a service before time but not sure if it was becasue they were over due to do one.

thanks both for answering this has helped a lot.
