i think you might find it difficult to remove both together as the length of the transmission from bell housing to t.case end is quite long. it wouldn,t be that hard to undo the starter motor and the bell housing bolts and leave the box in tact. at least you can check the clutch out incase its on its way out.
I dont need to take the gearbox out, just not sure if there is enough room to slide the engine forward to clear the gearbox shaft. Clutch is reasonably new so that should be OK.
i have seen several pics of the engine out for engine repairs with the gearbox still mounted in car. you woul;d have to remove the engine fan blades and radiator then i can,t see why it wouldn,t slide forward and up.
