engine overheating - checked for head gasket leak and ? cracked head used Co2 analyser but no colour change rad seems ok - anyone had this type of problem

Welcome to the forum.

There could be a number of reasons for overheating. Knowing which model helps, because diesel and petrols will overheat for different reasons.

Commonly: it could be a thermostat failure, fluid coupling failure, radiator core blockage, radiator air flow blockage (mud is often a culprit!) and more. Does the engine start and run normally, is there any change in smoke emissions (white, grey, blue, black) and is the engine as responsive as it used to be?

Mine overheated a while back. Worked out it was a blocked radiator. It is an issue with how the radiator for a ZD30 is set up. The radiator hoses are both on the same side and mainly uses half the radiator so all gunk gets caught in the opposite side to the hoses. I put in a new radiator as cleaning may not fix the problem 100% and it is back to normal.
