dull head lights...

so ive noticed my headlights have gotten progressively more dull over the past year or so, including my driving lights which used to scorch the road in front of the car lol! im wondering if it could be the wiring in the loom getting crappy and not carrying enough current or maybe something else...
anyone got a good way of checking this out or any other ideas of what it might be?

Is it the glass? Scratched, dull or dirty? Give them a clean with some toothpaste and see.
