this happen to a friend of mine i know its not a nissan but it nearly cost him his car, so i thought worth a mention
About half a year ago I changed mine radiator at Regs Radiators in Hoppers Crossing, Victoria.
Original one was clogged as described in my previous posts in this topic.
One week after I was 4dwing with some family friends and I have noticed that car overheats again only on steep hills.
I took it back to Reg's Radiators and they said maybe it was not bleed properly.
Because I added small amount of water in the overflow bottle when car temperature started climbing up I asked them if they could flush it again and replace coolant and then bleed the system.
"No problems" he said. "Park your car in front of the roller door next to that garden hose."
Alarms started ringing in my head but again, this is a radiator specialist he knows what he's doing.
He disconnected the bottom radiator hose, let the old coolant drain, removed radiator cap, placed a green garden hose connected to a tap on the wall and "flushed" the system whilst I was standing next to him.
Reconnected bottom hose again and added his coolant which he mixed 50:50 with that tap water.
Bleed the system and said "all good".
I asked If I could purchase 5 litre of his coolant in case I do need to add some later to avoid mixing coolant with something else.
He managed to find some dirty 5 litre plastic container, filled in approx 2/3 up with water and added some green coolant mix from his 20 litre container.
I went home and for a couple of months nothing happened, everything was OK, mind you, it was all suburban drive.
Then I went 4wdrving again and car started overheating again on a steep hills (did not overheat coz I paid attention to a temperature gauge).
I had enough.
I went online and ordered heavy duty radiator from links posted on this forum.
Mu local Mitsubishi dealer flushed the system and replaced radiators.
I took the old one to Reg's Radiators and "the boss" was not there, but his worker was and he removed the top section and tested radiator if it is clogged. Yes it was. More than 80% was clogged.
"The boss" showed up and I showed him the radiator and he started accusing me for mixing coolants.
I reminded him that he flushed and replaced radiator, that he flushed the system for the second time and even sold me a 5 litre container containing same coolant he used. I also questioned his flushing method with the garden hose.
He would not listen. He suggested that he will send radiator back to manufacturer to see what is going on. I said that is just your bull sh*t story because they will say the same, "mixed coolants" and blame either you or me.
He said that is the procedure and we will go from there. That was three weeks ago.
I called him up this morning and he said radiator come back from manufacturer with the "mixed up" conclusion as I said earlier. He blamed me again.
Not willing to refund, he just said "take me to the small claims tribunal."
Obviously a wild cowboy with no regards for his customers, their property and no idea how to do the job.
Not wanting to argue with an idiot I just said that I will make sure that my review will find some good spots on the internet. He said "do what you like."
So be warned.
