Hey guys,

Has anyone disconnected the sway bar so that the front gets more flex??
Did a search but nothing much came up about it.

Whats the pro's/con's of this.
The price is pretty cheap from calmini to get the kit for it.

I've drove around for ages w/o a swaybar on my little IFS zook w/o any real problems.... u just drive to the conditions & realizing that the car is not going to handle as good as it did b4 going around corners, etc.... no real problems...... but, the down side with more down travel is more stress on CV's, etc due to the greater angles achieved..... I ended up putting the swaybar back on after installing the front locker as I reckoned it would not only take a little stress off cv angle but in the case of the zook help save the Struts from topping out and shortening their life.

just my experience though , not sure how u would go in a bigger car though.....

Just check that the calmini kit isn't for the rear sway bar in the 2WD frontiers. I was looking at them a few months back and almost bought a set from America till I realized this.

Disconnecting the sway bar will NOT give you any more travel or flex in the front end. What it will do is allow the LHS and RHS to flex independently of each other, and (In the theory in my head) keep the front end of the truck as level as possible while driving.

Spend your money on a lokka.

Sweet. Thanks for the info guys!

i only just recently read something about disconnecting sway bars. Ill defiantly be saving for a lokka instead

The sway bar is there to try and prevent body roll...keep the front as level as possible

In the good old days we used to mod our vehicle by fitting sway/anti roll bars cause they werent standard....

now, is it the rage mod to remove them???????

I give up....

But in the case of 4wd, you want the body roll. You want the left and right sides to flex as they wish...

Sway bars (as far as I know) are for street behavior and handling on the black top, which is quite the opposite of what you want on the tracks.

I think.

Thought about trying this but the old nav is limited to the **** wheel travel anyhow. But would be interesting to see if it keeps the front a little more level offroad. Might be worth a go as its not that hard to remove.

Krankin, check out the jeep wranglers with swaybar disconnects. Differently worth it on the jeeps.

Not so good for on road. Mates about to put his back on his patrol. Body rolls all over the place on the blacktop.

Ive been driving around without one for about 2 years. The size of the sway bar on the navs would have stuff all effect on handling anyway

The swaybar keeps the body level when cornering on level road but will increase the roll effect when the suspension is crossed up offroad. I think you can easily disconnect the swaybar at the lca's quite easily from how I remember it.
