D40 Reco Engine Swap or something else?

Hi Guys,

Just had my second 2.5l turbo diesel seize (88,000kms and 135,000kms) in my 2007 Navara. Merry Christmas. Full historical whinge available on my profile. Two different failures for two different reasons. Yes, it was serviced. No, not under warranty.

Love the Navara, but looking for options to putting in another 2.5l. Just so unbelievably expensive.

Thoughts for my current options are:

A different Nissan engine - searched the forum but didn't see any successful/completed stories
Another reco 2.5l motor - if I can find one.
A low mileage second hand 2.5l motor - again, if I can find one
350 Chevy - anyone heard of a V8 conversion?

Anyone with any polite suggestions or recommendations greatly appreciated?

Your not going to get a V8 chev plated...emissions, brakes, etc.
There is heaps of potential options though ....personally I would fit a another s/h engine and trade it in ... you seem to have a bad history with this vehicle.

A wreckers on the gold coast sells heaps from wrecks cheap sorry I don't know the name they are big on ebay I did read a few days ago a member here wrote his d40 off into a tree with no insurance maby find that thread

Scottybobcat did a gen3 in a D22 so you'd think it would fit a D40. http://www.navara.asia/showthread.php?t=3340&highlight=engine+conversion Haven't seen anything else in a D40 but after doing two motors in the one car i'm guessing it's cursed and wouldn't try a third rebuild.

yd25.com.au do a reco'd engine. think they were around 8800 (not 100% sure. have a read of this

But the D22 goes back 15 years .....

Anyway in QLD it wont happen.
We have the GESTAPO as DOT and the SS as cops.
