Gday all! Just about to purchase a 3" system for my 2006 auto STX. Now the issue im having is that as mine has no DPF and the exhaust available is to suit autos with DPF's, will the D40 exhaust to suit a MANUAL fit my auto with no DPF??

Thanks in advance :)))

I'd imagine so. The DPF is not related to the auto gearbox physically, it was just a choice that Nissan made to fit the device to the autos and not the manuals.

Surely someone else here has done it before (changed exhausts on a 2006 auto) - or perhaps one of our members that has access to part numbers might be able to tell us if the 2006 auto and manuals share the same genuine part numbers for the exhausts!

Its a pain. I already have the custom dump pipe. Now i need the system! But im being told turbo back systems are different to suit DPF and NON DPF models. I will buy a complete turbo back system if i have to and just sell the dump pipe that comes with it

i have the same car, 06(series 1) auto non dpf. be careful if you buy an 07<(series 2) turbo back system as i believe the turbo's are in a different position, the 06 sitting lower in the engine bay.
beaudesert exhausts were the only mob who could supply the right pipe, other supplier's weren't even aware there was difference between turbo placement and the fact that a non dpf auto existed! . only other option is a custom pipe.

So if i go Beaudesert, they can supply the correct system? Im just bolting up the exhaust first then getting the dump pipe fitted.

Would the system bolt up to the factory flanges after the cat for the time being?

they were aware that the the 06 was different, and said they could supply the correct one, however, beaudesert push the 2.75" system, so you would have to check as to whether they make a 3". i personally have not purchased a system yet as there is so much debate on hear as to what size works and what doesn't, i'm now totally confused.

Well from what i know, the only difference between 2.5" and 3" is the sound and price. The dump pipe is the only real gain on it. Hence why ill just go 2.5". Glad to hear SOMEONE is aware of it. I cant get straight answers on it anywhere!!

Go see a mate of mine in Lilydale and he will custom fit your pipe for half of what it costs for these pre fabbed pipes.

Pre fabbed off ebay. Theres one bloke who makes ones to suit the YD25 and he makes another one. They're the only two dump pipe listings for Navs on Ebay.

i checked ebay and found 2 suppliers
exhaustshop1 supplies a 2.5" only
and performance exhaust online supplies a 3" for thai models only

I have a 2 1/2 pipe on mine cat back which he made up in less than an hour for less than $300 and the dump pipe was that again and takes a bit longer to do..
Thats with a Hi flo cat fitted

How do u mean "does the turbo sit low"?? Dump will be 3" yes

Here are two pics from my garage (I just uploaded the labelled image into there, but it'll be elsewhere on this forum too).

The first image is the layout of the 2009 STX Auto engine bay, labelled:

Now it's important to see the air cond line and locate that in the next photo as well, so you know where we're looking:

Just to the left of the air cond(itioning) line you can see the turbocharger's actuator and you can just make out the front of the Garrett turbocharger below and to the left of that.

The turbo in the 2009 model therefore sits fairly high in the engine bay. The exhaust manifold doesn't have a long pipe to the turbine intake - the turbo is very close to the exhaust manifold. In the earlier models, the exhaust manifold was longer, the turbocharger sat lower and the exhaust from the OUTLET of the turbine naturally began lower (and was thus shorter to the first bend).

your spot on tony, i can barely see my turbo, being down low.

the 09 has the cast alloy bend between the soft inlet hose and the turbo, while mine has an extra steel 90deg. bend between the soft hose and the alloy bend.
so that's a difference between spain/spain instead of the usual spain/thai
