d40 engine problems

hi my name is ryan im new to the forum , i have recently purchased a 08 stx 2.5td . when i start the engine ,if i turn the key back to on a fraction to early the engine actually starts in reverse, the nissan dealer has seen this but didnt think it was much of a problem. is it bad for the engine? it is under warranty. any advice? thanks

Welcome to the forum.

I don't recall reading or hearing about this before. I'm sure it can happen! I wonder if the engine isn't being cranked over fast enough so that momentum helps? Could be an under-performing starter battery, or maybe a damaged starter motor?

Be interesting to see what others say.
