Hi all
I'm new o the forum but hoping someone may be able to help me out
My 2010 d40 stx manual diesel is having an issue that I am having a lot of trouble resolving

The engine light is on with error code for exhaust gas temperature sensor (p0546), car will drive fine for approx. 5klm then will loose all power

I have had the sensor replaced twice as well as the egr valve twice, the o2 sensors the turbo solenoid, turbo hoses and probably a few others I can't think of right now however the problem comes back within 1000klm of having it done

Local Nissan dealer has no idea what to do they just want to keep replacing sensors, I tried a specialist diesel mechanic who thought it may be electrical so went to auto electrican but they were very limited with what they could do as they couldn't get any info off Nissan
Last service was $4500 and only worked for about 1000ks

The only mod on the car is a redback performance exhaust that was fitted in a hope to resolve this issue
this has been an ongoing issue for approx. 12months so I'm really hoping someone may have come across this same problem so I can finally get it fixed

any help or suggestions greatly appreciated

thanks

After my ute spent another 2 days at local nissan dealer they have replaced the egt sensor again and assured me this is a one off thing as they haven't had any problems with these sensors before.
They obviously forgot about the two they already replaced this year and that they told me about extended warranty up to 150 000k as they are a common problem, mine was out of warranty but the part was replaced under parts warranty as it was only replaced in April. I just had to pay for fitting.

Where is the EGT sensor mounted on later yd25's? If it happens in such a short period of time I'd be wondering if the apprentice working on the car is routing the wiring loom correctly (read: away from the exhaust) and if proximity to exhaust temperature is playing either a primary or secondary role. Don't suppose you got or saw the old part after it was taken off?

I'm not sure exactly where it is positioned and I never saw the old part. I think there is a very high likelihood that it has been largely due to the fact that the dealerships senior mechanics are only just out of there apprenticeship aswell. I do try to avoid using them as much as possible but the other local mechanics dont know enough about them or they take to long to get in to.

However so far so good I have done 2000k since it was replaced and it's running like dream
