D22 STR differences - Newby

Gday guys, first post on here but have been reading the site for a while as I am getting closer to buying a D22.

My question is what are the differences around the 03-05 models. I am looking at a 2004 MY2003 and it looks like the seats are different. Is this when the series 2 came out? I also saw a comment on here that the S2 tray is 100mm longer than the series 1. Is there any other differences I need to know about?

Welcome mate.

Series 1 D22's ran the QD32 and VG30E, TD27 and KA24E. Came as DX and ST.

Front end is different to the series 2 STR's and DX's. They had a cloth interior and grey dash. VG33E and ZD30DDT in the 4wd version's. KA24DE and VG30E in the 2wd version

Series 3 got a updated interior and a few changes. Maily updates to the ZD30 design and a few wiring changes. Same deal with engines as the series 2, but the VG33E and VG30E were dropped in late 2005.

Series 4 I consider is when Nissan started building the D22 again in 2008. Only engine available is the CRD YD25DDTI.

Series 5 I consider is the Thai built D22 which started in late 2009. Tray is 100mm longer and the tail gate is the same as the series 1 D22. There would be wiring changes but nothing major. However the rear diff changed, they run the C200K from memory.

i have what i believe is a ser2 d22 with build a date of aug 2004, it has drivers air bag, black interior, ZD30.

just on redbook and have a look, good way to find out what models had!!

^ Id consider that to be a series 3.

That would have the same interior as mine.

your model is the first of the airbag fitted model.You dont have many problams with that year Nav either

dave,black outer on the seats and grey inside and black dash is what ive got.

scotty that is good to hear, i knew there was a reason for me wanting one with black interior not just coz it looks good!!

any way to answer gee man's question he would be better off with a late 2004 with the air bag or early 2005???

2004 and 2005 are pretty much identical. There are a few wiring changes from memory but nothing huge.

Thanks for the info guys, Very very happy to say I picked up my 05 D22 last wednesday. has got about 110k on the clock, ZD30 diesel with factory alloy bar (would have preferred a steel one),plus a canopy and electronic rust protection already installed. Couldnt be happier. Wired up my spots yesterday, the UHF is next to go in hopefully on the weekend and busy making the long list of things to do.
