D22 engine swap petrol to diesel

Gday guys my mate has a D22 in petrol exelent condition but the engine has s@*t itself so my question is can you put a diesel in this ute or if not does a commy motor fit in these like the hilux's? and how hard is it to swap motors over? cheers Jeremy

For a Diesel swap it would be a big job.
Why not just stick a VG30DETT into it. Should have the same engine mounts.
