Welcome to the forum.

The biggest problem with custom bars would be airbag compliance. Companies like ARB/Ironman/Xrox can afford to do testing or have sophisticated tools to provide sufficient information to prove that their bags comply with ADRs governing crumple zones and airbag deployment.

The average guy just can't compete with that.

With that said, a second hand bar - perhaps one that's off a write-off (burnt, rear end damage) - might suit your budget and conform to the regs as well. Try niss4x4.com.au and see if they have something for your model.

Xrox bar is $1190 from Opposite Lock. They are also very light at ~50kg so you don't have to go replacing spring rates (remembering you will only be adding about ~30kg of net weight after removing all the other gumpf during the install process). If you are handy with a jigsaw then self install is dead easy! I did mine :)

What model D40 do you have. If its a 550 Adam at Nis4x4 only has an alloy bar to suit I think, we'll he did when I was in there last, a couple of weeks ago. If its an ST, Thai built I'm sure he will have a few there. Good luck.
