:devil:I have a so called rust protection system installed on my D22 single cab... I was told it was over kill... It's for vehicle that spends a lot of time on the beach... Guaranteed for 10 years from the manufactures date.... Year 5 of having it and only 4 beach trips under my belt, I have found rust on the radiator mount... It's a small spot but it's not mention to rust at all. Today I found a little bit more in seams on the chasis, don't get me wrong it's not a lot but it's there.... TJM keep coming up with excuses... Rubber mounts prevent current flow... Surface rust is normal but it won't start flaking off. Before anyone says it I spend at least 2-3 hours and then gernie cleaning it after each beach trip as well as giving it a hose a few days after that to make sure.... What can I do... What should I put on the small spots that are there... Penetrol... Rust converter. TJM seem to have cleared them selves of it... Even with the company guarantee of 10 years I have not heard back from couplertec!

I guess it all depends exactly how much rust there is and how bad it is but if I'd paid for something with a 10 year guarantee that hadn't lasted 5 years I'd be waiting for a response from the company before I tried anything. Depending on their response but from there I'd probably go down the path of using some sort of rust inhibitor or killer that can be applied to the rusty spots. There is quite a number of reliable type products out there.

I've just found the guarantee and down loaded the installation steps which TJM did not follow and I will be approaching them on Saturday... It's not a lot now but as you said I paid for it not to be there at all... See how I go!

If TJM didn't install it right then your claim might well be with them, but I wish you luck no matter who it's with.

My Couplertec system is 3 years old and I've done probably half a dozen beach trips, no rust that I can find. If TJM have installed it incorrectly I hope you have some luck getting them to fix it.

Hav eyou taken yours back for the 12 monthly check-ups as well?

How many pads do you have on your system Jason and where a bouts have they been placed. I just read on the couplertec site utes/cab chasis can be placed on the chasis even though TJM said this was not possible. I have four... 2 on the fire wall and 2 on the rear wall of the cab, If I understand correctly this gives me no current to chasis at all? I have taken it for it's check ups every 12 months, the last one has a written note about rust on the radiator mount.

Mines not on the chassis either, i have six pads. Two in engine bay, two at back of cab and two behind the taillights to protect the tub.

2 pads, one on the inside of the engine bay on a panel and another on the inside of the tub.

I would be going to business and consumer affairs if you are not happy with there responses. If you mention that, it usually get s a response of "go on then", but once they know you are serious they usually change their attitude.

Skipped talking to tjm today and spoke directly to couplertec.... Very helpful bunch of people so far.... I have to send photo's directly to them but they are more than happy to get to the bottom of what's going on.... Especially when I mentioned being a member of a 4x4 forum! It could be a voltage problem with the current Passing through from the cab to the chasis and will need a earth strap to fix it.... See what happens next!

Mine came pre installed with rust on the chassis from poor pickling of the welds before they splashed on some fingerpaint to the chaisis.

Geeze you lot dont know how good you've got it!

Good news, keep us updated mate.

Had a chat with TJM this morning and a vehicle inspection and I guess you could say I have had a small win...."so far" they have admitted to small amounts of rust found in multiple locations in the car... Photos have been sent away... Waiting for them to turn nasty now. My new concern is photos have been taken of what I can see... What about the rest?

Photos have been inspected by couplertec and TJM and have agreed there is a problem, the guys at couplertec have been really good...spent a lot of time explaining things to me and going through a few different possibilities that could be causing the problem. Even though I am having a few issues I highly recommend it... The guys have not ignored me and shrugged things off( which I expected) they have also agreed to clean the car up.... Good business men that believe in there product.

Whilst its not good to hear about people having issues only half life of a warrantee, but it is encouraging to hear the the people responsible are at least prepared to look at it seriously - with the aim of doing something about it.

I hope that you will achieve a positive outcome with your dealing with TJM and Couplertec.
