Cleaning the Inlet after EGR Blank

Anyone done this? is it a Pig of a Job?? i had my EGR pipe off today to get to the back of the fuel pump to install Chip it Chip to my 05 ZD. The inlet is full of Gunky crap.

What have people used to clean the thing out once off. or have you dont it without taking it off?

Welcome to the forum.

The gunk is from two different emission controls - EGR and PCV. Add a good catch can before going to the trouble of cleaning the manifold.

The easiest way to clean the manifold is to buy a new gasket and replace it. While you have the manifold off, you can clean it.

Otherwise it's fiddly - and you may miss a chunk that will end up in the combustion chamber - although that's not going to destroy the motor, it might cause some trouble to a DPF.

I didnt replace my gasket it is just a metal type job, I think I used some gasket goo when I re assembled mine
