Hi all
Was just wondering what all you people clean your engine bays with , as mine is filthy with dirt and mud , and also is is a bad thing to pressure wash it ? With it wreck anything ?

There is a thread somewhere about pressure washing the engine bay not sure what section though.

My old man owned a detailing businesses for 20 years, he would just use a spray of degreaser ( make sure its not to hard core for all the alloy modern cars have)
Then if using a pressure washer make sure the engine is COLD and DONT get to close to any gaskets, seals or electrical systems, the trick is not to get to close and keep moving and you should be fine.
Some will say never do it but i have never had any issues and ive done it dads way for thirty years and never a single problem.

Pretty much the same here.little degreaser and a good going over with a pressure washer set on fan spray.if you do use a really harsh degreaser the alloy will start to corrode very quickly.(white dusty appearance is the first sign) definatly read the degreasers container before hand.the good ones will eat the alloy.but thay will say that on the label.if grease isnt your problem but dirt and dust is..just get the appropriate product and she will look as good as new in 20 mins.

Chemtech CT18 truckwash fro supercheap.

Mix it to the directions and wash it all off. It eats rubber if in full concentrate form and not washed off. Can dry out fan belts to. Works great and that's what I use but I wash it off with heaps of water and only mix it to the directions.
Cheers, Brad.

Soft degreaser and garden hose. If it doesnt come off with that and you're fussy, then get in there with an old paint brush or something.
If you're really fussy, finish it off with wd40 and a rag.
Not a fan of pressure washers on cars let alone engine bays. I find the effort of getting one out and hooking it up and then packing it up again isnt worth the effort when they dont clean that well unless your go over aggressive with them which you don't want to do.
