As above just wondering if there's a way of checking for updates with out searching and scrolling through pages and pages of new posts?

Mate.. you have to subscribe to them that way you can get the notifications. You on a phone or a computer?

top right corner is "My Posts"
click on that and it shows all the posts you have made
click on that and it shows all the posts you have made

Yeah, "your posts" literally just lists your posts and in the order you posted them, regardless whether the threads have been updated or not, but no I actually havn't subscribed to anything for fear of getting tedious email updates that are a pain to delete, but maybe i should subscribe the more important ones...
Subscribe to the threads and turn off email notification.

Actually are email alerts off by default..ive never recieved one
The default is probably off. If you click here, and look in the Messaging & Notifications section (second box) you'll see the options - choose one from the drop-down list. It will all make sense when you take a look.

I only rarely get on the laptop . Tapatalk is so quick and its easier to post pic's

Yep, I'm the same. Sometimes I have problems with tapatalk though, it rotates my pictures the wrong time and other times it won't even let me upload pics.
