Chainsaw storage

Quick question, I have a chainsaw (Mc Caughloch) which travels in a hard case. Just wondering, does it need to travel level or can the chainsaw be stored upright?

Id imagine being air cooled two stroke the only thing would be if petrol or bar oil seeps out, not that it would hurt anything. Maybe pack some padding under the handle or strap it in so its not hitting the bottom of the case to avoid external damage?

My mate carries his with the bar down behind the spare wheel on his GU with the motor on top of the wheel. Goes everywhere like this and still starts.
