Beware auction purchase

Saw an add in the local paper this weekend that took my interest. 07 STX 55k new eng $27,000. Rang the dude, he purchased the car unseen, "oops" from auction and had it del on a truck. Del day came, not running. Checked it out, lower timing chain gone, Ouch!!!
Buy's another low ks right off (checked this time) for the eng, all good now but the wife say's sell that pain NOW.
Internet Auction has it's worries.....

Yeah buying anything site unseen is a risk, back in the days before the net we used to look all over the country for dozers and stuff we'd only seen in the for sale mags but we also picked our stuff up so we could always refuse to pay if we got there and it wasn't what we wanted.

Bought my nav sight unseen (except internet photo,s) out of canberra as a writeoff

Buying sight unseen isn't so much the issue, handing money over site unseen is where I draw the line.
