Auto shifter a bit clunky

Hi all.
keen on a 2010 D40 ST-X with the 450nm motor but when I took it for a drive I was surprised how clunky or notchy the shifter was.
Just wondered if this is normal for this model.
I don't remember it being like that in a 2008 model I drove.They were a bit smoother.
This is the same interior as the newer ST with the chrome and silver centre console around the shifter if that helps.

Anyone got an opinion?

Might be just that car as mine is a 2012 st also test drove a 2011st. Unless your talking about the shift lock that sometimes wont let me out of park,
