Auto qd3.2 navara

Im running a qd3.2 navara with the auto trans, it is a factory non turbo that has been turboed , Question. Is there any difference between the turbo and non turbo transmission computer? under boost all it wants to do is kickdown and wont hold overdrive . I suspect the trans is damaged but looking at other options before I rip it out. im looking at building a stronger trans with my spare .cheers

i don't have any info on diesel version. all the auto's i have info on are the petrol models.

i would suspect it runs different ecu to the turbo engine. simply due to the navara qd32 being mech injected (ie no engine ecu).
i would check what ecu it has, if it even has one.
if it has ecu check to see what wires are in the plugs (see if its original or a terrano gearbox). it could well be a faulty sensor. gearbox often uses TPS for input.

TPS throttle position sensor, the auto knows how much throttle your putting down. they also use rpm signal and speedo signal. speedo can be important for overdrive and lock up clutch.

silly question is there a TPS on my non ecu navara? im aiming to rip both my engine an trans out shortly as have a turbo injection pump to fit plus headgasket and the new trans but want to tweak the trans to get it working better. will check all the sensors tho. we already have the lock up on switch. overdrive generally only kicks in at 100kms and I can only feather the throttle otherwise it kicks down.we have checked the trans oil and it had a slightly burnt smell but the colour was ok.

just because it doesn't have an engine ecu doesn't mean theres no gearbox ecu. need to check what wires are going to the gearbox and have a look under the heater for an ecu.

if there is no gearbox ecu then there is no TPS or other sensors.

BTW why the head gasket ?

Sweet I will have a look on the weekend. the h/g had been leaking for ages but I just used the copper shit for h/g repairs just to get by for a while, that was 12months ago. worked a treat. however I just noticed today that ive go blowby out the dipstick and breather so time to pull it out and look for a replacement until I can afford to rebuild it.
