Aircon with demister

Hi All,

In my 08 D40 if I turn on the demister the a/c comes on. I know its meant to be that way but it gives me the sh!ts. Has anyone ever figured out a way for the a/c NOT to come on?

Am pretty sure if you turn off the AC it will stay off the next time you turn it on .Cant remember to be honest. I know certain settings are preset like MAX AC is recycled air only and you cant change that.
plus in the colder areas the demister works way faster with AC on

Dont turn the fan speed above 3 and the ac will stay off oh it could be 2 cant remember now lol

But AC helps greatly as it dehumidifies the air, no moisture = no fog , just saying

I find the auto selection very frustrating too. It was the same in my other car so looks like the car designers set them up that way. These 'features' should be user definable so you can configure the way you want them to operate not the way a designer thinks everyone wants it to be. If you change outside air to recirculate, it turns the air con on... If I want it on, I'll turn it on myself. Very annoying.

Is there not a switch behind the panel you can simply disconnect and bypass this happening?.
