Abs/4x4

Hope someone can help me with this problem in my Thai built 2010 d40.
I know if there is a fault with the ABS it affects the 4x4. The abs light is on I have checked the resistance in the sensors and they appear to be working.
If there is a problem with the 4x4 control switches will this affect the Abs function?
any help will be very much appreciated

I can't say with any degree of certainty in the case of a Navara, because sometimes manufacturers do some really weird shit, but ABS and 4x4 are normally totally independent systems. Measuring the resistance of the ABS sensors is a good initial step but will only show up a total sensor failure, not a misbehaving one. When the wheel turns the toothed rotor induces a series of voltage pulses in the sensor which a multimeter is not necessarily going to show you. You really need at least an oscilloscope for that. Even if you're mechanically proficient, this is one of those jobs that are best handled by a specialist with the appropriate equipment and skills. Talk to a brake specialist and ask what they will charge to test the ABS system. Once you know where the problem is you can decide who does the repair, you or them.

A relatively sophisticated code reader will give you the appropriate fault code, but correct that faulty transfer box switches will not turn off the abs.

I've only seen ABS faults for two reasons: the cable's been snagged or damaged, or the sensor ring has muck in it. On the front wheels, that usually means the wheel bearing is faulty.

If you can't jack up the car to check the bearing, there's a simple test that involves a corner that you can drive in both directions at a modest speed (under 60km/h or 35mph). If you take the corner to the left and it's quieter than when you take that same corner at the same speed to the right, then your LEFT wheel bearing needs replacing. Vice versa for the right.

ABS sensors can also be clogged up on the rear wheels if the seals degrade and grease/oil makes its way to the sensor ring.

Thanks to those who replied. I got the car checked and the fault is an “open circuit to the one of the wheel”. The mechanic says the sensor is ok.
Am I right in thinking there must be a damaged wire in the harness?

That's what it sounds like. "Open circuit" generally means it's no longer electrically connected.
