Hi all… no doubt the heading says it all - I’m another loud and proud (but I guess not all are silly like me!) Navara owner. Yep, who’s still trying to explain to the world that these D40’s are extremely special!!

The personalities on them are mind blowing!!! Right down to the millions of gremlins that seem to infest every, single, damn system on my ‘07 YD25 truck!!!

I’m slowly moving each lil bugger on, but now that I have made some major headway recently (it was bound to happen!!) and could be living the dream sooner rather than later, I figured time to share what it’s taken me to fix it’s “intermittent braking issues”, the way it blows 3 different coloured smoke at once, 4WD issues that should be shot on sight, the “here again gone again” turbo lag, stalling when started on anything other than dead flat ground and a whole bunch of other delights, I think it’s time to share the magic words with other still suffering owners and maybe even find some more clues to help me with the cosmetic style edge-tidying-up of my beast.

Why should anyone, especially me, bother? Simple… it’s because I own a d40… and everybody knows we are almost as unique as the Navara nightmares we live… In short? I can't afford to replace it!! My now late father’s advice about really needing to drive a “less conspicuous vehicle” will always be on the back of my mind… sorry pa, I’m still working on it!!! I’ve even toned down the constant need to clean its black paint and shine the huge amounts of rubber used for its tyres…

Car obsessed, workshop owner/operator in the southern regions of Australia, and wouldn’t have it any other way! Imagine a life of hair and makeup instead of grease and mud!!! Shudder!!

As you know, I feel for you!!! 🤣🤣

Thank you for the welcome… I do believe it was one of your posts that had me sign up a few months back - re: brake effectiveness and pedal feel… or stuck in 4LO (lol both! Plenty of time to read forums with that bizarre combo!!)…

From the bottom of my heart… and my truck’s well, bottom end - thank you!!! Nearly blew the trans but stuck with it, and got it out of 4LO eventually (and with an audience who learnt what cetane booster does to tyres that causes weird acceleration, revs, clunks and 4 letter words!! Stay tuned lol!!)

Will be sure to update re brakes asap now that a complete booster was purchased due to no stock of anything booster valve OR hose-wise needed in the country! Everything was 12 weeks away at christmas!!!! 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤣🤘🏻

Welcome to the Forum! I love my Nav! The only thing I hate about it is getting aftermarket mods. I may be biased , but I have not had the myriad of problems people have had with their Navs. I make sure to have regular maintenance by myself and to take it a mechanic at least once a year. I do a lot of solo remote camping and touring in Australia and she has never let me down. I have been part of this forum from the first month of my Nav ownership. I contribute a lot of the success from the information put out by the Navara community. I am currently in the process of fitout for 1 month trip into the Kimberly, should be epic! Enjoy your Nav and welcome.
