Just got my second d-40 and this time i thought i would get a auto it has less than 2000km on it and looks like thay will be pulling the auto out. Slips in gear and when you go from revers to drive and drive to revers. nissan service tech said the auto has low pressure and thay have never seen or had any problems with these 5 speed auto's.Now im waiting for nissan to let the dealer know what thay have to do Hmmmm. Has anyone had or herd of any problems like this with the auto's

Welcome to the forums.

Can't say I've suffered the problems with my 09 D40. I have heard of similar problems in auto boxes over the years but nothing specific to any one manufacturer. Hopefully Nissan wont drop the ball on this and will have you back on the road sooner rather than later.

*gulp*

just got a 2010 auto coming up 1000k's now - only good for a thousand more i guess?

like krafty says i hope you can get nissan and the dealer 100% behind you on this one. bad luck mate.

yep bad luck i think anyway im sure you will be right for the next 1000kms

although you probably know this being a second time owner yourself, make sure you keep a record of all the dealings you have with nissan. get them to put everything in writing and don't lay off even a bit. not to put the frights in you at all but there are plenty of horror stories around and your best bet it to be well prepared.

all said though, hard for them to make up any excuse for an auto box fail at 2000k's

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds like a one-off case of bad luck to me, I've had no problems with my '09 auto.

The funny thing about forums is they generally tend to attract the negative side. You'll hear all about how this bit doesn't work, that bit wasn't replaced when it should have been, those parts were missing from the dealership and the service guys forgot to tighten this part and it fell off yadda yadda.

I hope like everyone else that this is the only issue, but also add my voice to theirs - document it all, get stuff in writing just in case things go pear-shaped.

Keep us posted!

Hi everyone just thought i would let you know that the gear box is RS and the nissan dealer has just told me that nissan wont be able to get me a new gear box untill 5 of january 2011. I have spoken to nissan customer sevice and i have given them two options thay give me a new nissan or my money back, as the navara had had problems in the first three weeks from delivery. I am ringing consumer affairs on monday to find were i stand as i am very disapointed with what has happened and need this navara for work and for xmas holidays. Should have keeped my old d-40

Unfortunately bad luck can happen to any car and it's a pain in the arse when it does happen.

I think you'll find CA will suggest 6 weeks is a reasonable time to wait whether you need the vehicle or not, it's one of the many disadvantages of trading globally like we do, however that doesn't mean that they wont give you options like insisting Nissan give you a hire car or something like that. Not sure on the money back issue that might be possible but I'd imagine CA will give you the full guidelines for that information anyway.

I'd be weary of the delivery date to begin with, it takes time to order and ship things from OS and when you put them on a boat 6 weeks is not unheard of, but so many different industries shut down over Christmas and new year that promising things on the 2nd day of trade for the year sounds too good to be true. Still Nissan work so slowly for the rest of the year maybe the first week of January is the only time they actually do get the lead out.

Looking forward to what ca and nissan have to say as from dropping the nissan off to the gear box maybe turning up would be about 10 weeks and i miss my new d-40

2010 stx auto

Just wanted to let everyone know that i have just got my Navara back with a new auto fitted. Nissan said that i would have to wait untill 5th Jan for a new auto as there is none in Australia but the dealer got another new STX auto from another dealer and pulled the auto from that to get me on the road. Had a bit to say as my navara only had 1800km's on the clock anyway i am very happy with it now it is a different drive totaly and happy with nissan customer sevice and the dealer for there help. So i was unlucky but lucky. Nissan said the auto had very low pressure from new that is why it drives so different than before. i had not driven the auto navara or pathfinder before i got this one . I had manual's before this one but do like the auto even more now its working like it should smooth and not slipping. Hope im a one off and no one else has this problem as i have not had any problems with the last two navara's i've had that's why i got this one.

Glad you got it sorted, and in less time than they originally quoted. It's good to see Nissan don't drop every ball passed to them.
