Hi guys, i have a 2008 nissan navara d40 with 135000 kms on it. Car has been perfect up until yesterday. It suddenly stopped by the side of the road and will not restart at all. I felt I had full power right up until it stopped and there was no unusual sounds. IN 4th gear down a hill, put clutch in to downshift into 3rd around a round about and dies then. Ive found water in the fuel filter and my breather line from the tank was split. Ive since replaced the filter and fuel line still no joy. My mechanic had put pressurised air from the tank to the engine and say there seems to be low fuel flow. I have zero idea what the problem is. NEED HELP PLEASE! Dont feel any loss of power at all up until it happened.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!

It does sound like something's let go. Here's a couple of things to check.

1) Fuel primer bulb. It's below the fuel filter. Squeeze it and count the squeezes. If you get to 5 and it's still not firm, there's a leak in the fuel system, or a blockage in the fuel pickup inside the tank.

2) Fit a compressor (the air tank thingy you would hook up a spray gun to) to your fuel tank inlet and start pumping it up. Have a look for diesel leaks from the fuel tank forward.

3) If there's no diesel leaks anywhere, it might be electrical, although it's unusual for it to fail so quickly. Things to check are the MAFS and FRPS cables. A big one that often catches people with very odd symptoms but could easily stop your car from starting: the ECU earth.

Can you confirm that the engine turns over, but just doesn't start at all? Can you smell diesel fuel in the exhaust?

Fuel rail pressure sensor can be unplugged and it will still start.i believe most sensors can be unplugged BUT it will still idle if it has diesel....if the pressure reg sensor (assuming this is the SCV) is stuck you can try and start the engine with that unplugged...as if it moves at all unplugged will deliver full fuel pressure and she will start with a horrid knocking sound.but it will start..wouldnt reccomend running it like that..its just a test
