2006 D22 ST-R to 1 tonne

Hi guy's, quite the newbie here,
I'm looking at buying an 06 Navara and for tax reasons my accountant says i should get a 1 tonne Ute. To be perfectly honest it wont do to much off road work, just a few camping trips each year. I was just wondering it it's easy enough to get the Navara rated at 1 tonne, and if it's just a suspension upgrade that is required?

It is a bugger in my case. I am looking at a novated lease for a work car and would think about selling my D22 to the lease mob and leasing it back again, but they can not do any ute over 1000kg payload!
