    No Vacuum.... SOLVED

Oh and I remember reading somewhere brakes are meant to feel a little spongy on first touch. Can't remember why.

3mm it is. Turbosmart at autobarn has nice thick walled 3mm tube. $15 from memory.

Timing Chain Failures and Oil Filters

Just tossing it up there but another question might be manual vs auto. Mines a manual and being a little lazy sometimes I may have let it "labour" a little in too high a gear at times. Sounds terrible when it happens, all rattle and shake. Was also worse when stock and the motor was prone to...

    Over heating problems or not?

Likewise seems normal. Changed thermostat to Tridon Hi flow. Temps drop a lot faster and don't seem to peak so high. Made a bigger difference than expected. Also sealed and shortened air tract (bypassed duct on front of air box) and intake air staying much cooler even stopped in Perth traffic...

Timing Chain Failures and Oil Filters

Mine had been fully Nissan serviced when the chain was changed. Guessing they only used their own filters. Interested reading about Ryco filters though. Have been using them since took over servicing. Hadn't noticed anything.

    Cruise Control Intermittent [SOLVED]

Neutral switch for sure. Can be a bugger to replace but not impossible. If cruise control drops out when you "wiggle" the gear stick it is the switch not registering it is in gear and cancelling cruise control. Mine failed altogether and I could only engage cruise control when pushing (or...

    No Vacuum.... SOLVED

There is a couple of outlets on the vacuum pump. One blanked and the other which runs over the engine. 3mm silicone tube costs $15 and takes 20 mins to replace. Replace the lot including the tubing near the pump and see how you go. There is tubing which in located next to the pump which isn't...

    Show us your Plasti Dip

Did my badges 3 years or more ago. Gone a bit dull but no scratches. I actually forget I've done them it's been on so long. No special treatment. Light first coat is critical to give it something to bond to. Several heavier coats to build it up. Bit of trial and error as it's so easy to strip...

    Provent 200

1" hose preferably oil resistant with reducer to 5/8" for d40 not sure for zd30. Make sure the reducer is in an easy to access spot so it can be tightened as hose wears in. Had an air leak on my hose without realising it as reducer was in a bugger of a spot.

    Should I run different oil

I've run a SMF for over 70k km and had been getting Nissan serviced (lazy) and there was a rattling noise at idle with clutch out. Have recently changed to recommended Penrite oil and it is so much quieter I thought something was wrong. Raises the question did Nissan ever actually change the...

stalling after start up and no glow plug light

Had the same problem at cold start fixed by pumping primer and was told by Rockingham Nissan primer was likely culprit. Changed primer problem solved. Apparently it has a valve which when it fails causes fuel line to drain out into tank. Should mention primer now goes hard a lot quicker. (If...

    D40 decent sound system anyone?

Vision Active subs X 2 under the front seats works great with Pioneer head unit and Alpine R series speakers with no separate amp on speakers. If speakers amped I don't think they'd cut it. And they're $150 at Auto One on special at the mo.
