Fair enough. My experiences run out there. Good luck.

    Cruise control diagnostics

Try leaning on gearshift when in gear and driving and see if it will engage then, can't remember left or right. If it then engages or disengages its the neutral switch in gearbox. Hold the clutch pedal up tight with your foot and if it works then its the clutch switch. The system isn't real...

    Black badges

Plastidip. No need take them off, just mask around & use a blunt toothpick on overspray. Did mine 4 years ago and still good as. Comes out matt, I didn't bother with clear.

    ARB Artarmon

Can recommend Coldys at McGraths Hill too.

    Cruise control diagnostics

Clutch pedal switch or neutral gearbox switch. If your lucky its the clutch switch.

Timing Chain Failures and Oil Filters

Changed to genuine filter from ryco and start up from cold has zero rattle. Sounds like a hot start. Genuine only from now on. Bummer.

    Are bull bar miss legal?

For what it's worth I have the ARB sahara bar with detachable hoop & rubber over riders removed. Effectively what you'd be looking at. Legal because ARB have tested them like that I guess.

    Spray painters - Perth

Anybody recommend a spray painter in Perth area (Midland, Rockingham)? Nothing major just some trim pieces. Cheers

    Turbo actuator

And don't forget the vac hoses at the vac pump under the oil filter There's a short length there that has a very hard life. If it bleeds vacuum- no boost.

    Thermostat

Turbo side of engine about halfway down the block. Been seen with the wheel arch cover removed. Looked a bugger so I paid for it to be done with a coolant flush. Used the tridon high flow thermostat and now runs cooler. Was averaging 92-3 on a scanguage now back to averaging 88-90. Very happy...

    PlastiDip vs Vinyl wrap

Vinyl wrap lasts a long time and takes knocks (stones etc.) better than plasti dip does. I've got vinyl wrap in front of the rear wheel arches where stone chips were becoming obvious, still looks the goods 4 years later. Depends on long term plans. I sprayed D40 "Titanium" mirrors body colour...

whining noise from behind timing chain cover

Before Nissan conceded and did my timing chain the only obvious noise was like a fanbelt slipping. Similar to a whining I guess.

    Whats wrong with this picture?

Nice work around and obviously lot easier than tackling the whole thing. Why didn't I think of that. DOH!

    CD Repair manuals.

There is a ripped manual online somewhere. The link is on a thread on here. AUD40.rar I think is the file name. Fits a 07 d40 very well.

    Whats wrong with this picture?

Honestly can't remember. I just needed to fix it. Was surprised they had one in Perth to sell. Typical Nissan pricing but I don't think it was too ridiculous. Only grief with a wreckers would be getting it out clean and plastic in same dodgy condition. Of course motor out you could just pluck it...

    Whats wrong with this picture?

Unfortunately not. Pipe joins around near the oil filter. Think it connects to the oil cooler. Has a bloody awkward drain looking piece on it which is closed at pipe. No idea what for cause you'll hate it by the end of the day. But the line itself definitely carries coolant and the piece that...

    D40 2.5 diesel EGR block

Nissan reinstalled my EGR blank after doing the timing chain. No questions asked.

    Whats wrong with this picture?

Had this snap off. New one from Nissan didn't have air vent cap on it. Makes it bloody hard to know that all air is out of the system but did get rid of weak spot. And the metal tubing is a bastard to get out and in. Had to pull diesel filter, wheel arch lining and a whole bunch of **** out to...
