Looking to borrow a winch for a few weeks

What an unusual request!, how about strapping 30kg of water containers to your bullbar?.

    Acceleration flat spot.

Someone had a similar problem years ago and it ended up being dirty earths and connections to the ECU.

    Questions for those that tow

Congratulations on the new van Glen it will serve you and the family well. The Coramal I had was 1.7 tonne. I always felt it needed another gear between 4th and 5th if you know what I mean. Take care in country towns if you need to do a hill start with the load. The D22 is a gutless pig off...

    Gauge recommendations and priority gauges

I don’t have any gauges nor ever felt the need apart from two. Egt’s are important if you tow a good size load and is a low coolant alarm. By the time the needle hits maximum your donk is cooked. Oil pressure is fairly well taken care of on the instrument cluster but it’s not easy to see if...

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

Nah I was just curious and dug it up out of interest.

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

Here’s Milkman’s dyno chart after turbo upgrade, chip and exhaust. He only made 120hp at the wheels lol. Not much of an increase for all the money he spent. http://www.navara.asia/showpost.php?p=185220&postcount=11

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

Yeah it’s a deceptive thing no doubt, all I know is my bloke used the same dyno and his preferred reading was simply horsepower. He would do the run in 4th as it’s as close to 1:1 ratio as possible. Only difference between the before and after runs was the temperature and humidity. I’d never...

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

I agree regarding the operators giving dodgy figures and selling you **** you don’t need to make it go faster. 3000nm would be achievable if you use Milkman’s tuner.:ha:

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

Yeah around 153kw at the flywheel, Rustynav09 made 149hp atw 3 years ago with basically everything I did. But he never had a stock run done and had aggressive 32’s. I had worn out 31’s when I did mine.

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

Pretty sure Infernal got the same results with a tune at 21psi, I’m only running 19. I’m hoping his new turbo replacement will be a success. It looks very promising :)

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

I agree dyno numbers confuse everyone particularly Milkman lol. In my case when it was bog stock it made an embarrassing 93hp atw. 3 weeks later after all the mods we made between 152-159hp on the same dyno dependant on the tune and boost.

CHIP Vs tune Vs Chip and Tune

I’ve been running around like that for five years now without a single issue. Remember the 98kw specification is done on an engine dyno and is read at the flywheel. You lose around 30% of power through the driveline so on the everyday dyno with the results taken at the wheels that 98kw would...

New D40 (to me) - 2009 model - largest tyres

Technically it’s a tad under 32 but near enough. As long as your front end isn’t badly sagged it should be fine. You can always give the mudflaps a trim if need be.

New D40 (to me) - 2009 model - largest tyres

The sizes I quoted were to suit a 16 inch rim, I was assuming you were replacing the tyres on the standard alloy rims. The most common aftermarket replacement is in the Sunny type rim would be 16-8 with around +10 offset. That will accomodate a 285/75r16 further down the track with some...

    16 inch rims?, 265/75 or 275/70r16. Cheers

Catergory NA vehicles (Navara's) OK to Lift & mod legally?

I don’t think there’s a correct answer to this depending on what state you are in. Nothing special about the hight of mine yet DOT and police have hassled me. I would fail a lane change test, the centre of gravity is too high with the alloy canopy and tray. I think laws vary depending on...

What did you do to your navara today?

Really looking forward to how this turns out Infernal. Jonney I get what you mean about the timing chain, I’ve driven around for 5 years now with 159hp atw. The rig itself has been close to 3 tonne for 3 years and before that the van was a modest 1.7 tonne. I plan to upgrade the timing chain at...

    Fraser island questions

I’m hoping to head there again just before Easter next year. I fill up at Rainbow Beach and take 40 ltrs extra fuel. This gets me around the island for a week without needing fuel at $3ltr. The main issue over there is unskilled drivers and drunken backpackers. Pick your areas and time to see...

What did you do to your navara today?

^looks like polite Spamming in the previous post. Infernal great to try something new, look forward to when you get it on the dyno and see the results. I make excellent power but the standard turbo still cannot keep up and runs out of puff. Cheers
