What scanner are you using? I've noticed that when I'm using Torque and ODB2, I'm actually getting more codes than when I do it with a semi-pro handheld scanner.

I did when I had my Lexus, even had to buy the special ODB2 cable for it. The lexus had pages and pages of settings to change and tinker with. The D40 Navara? what exactly are you planning on doing? the car has the tech of a Fuel Injected VK commodore.

    STX 550 hardwiring aftermarket camera

Looks like we both learnt the hard way! One thing we can both vouch for is that drilling the bumper ain't much fun.

    STX 550 hardwiring aftermarket camera

As with the above posts, I got an aftermarket camera that cost about $30, comes with an RCA cable that also has the trigger wire in the same sheath. Camera gets + and - from the reverse globe wiring in the rear lights, and the trigger wire that is in the RCA cable also goes to the + of the...

Unknown connector in front of radiator

as always, fountain of knowledge! Just thinking about it last night, my VSK 2013 does have ambient temp.. judging by that Dash are they the older MNT and VSK's that didn't get the sensor?

Trying to understand boost controllers etc.

I'd suggest getting a tune done, you can definitely get some un-tapped power out of the 2.5, with relative safety and using all the stock equipment. With the diesel, you won't get a huge increase in KW's, but you definitely get the jump in Torque (which is what you want)

Trying to understand boost controllers etc.

One small thing missing here is also the limitations of the turbo and the amount of fuel delivery you have. A turbo can't provide a limitless amount of boost, it is restricted to its size. 2-3 extra PSI isn't a problem, but if you want big boost you'll need a bigger turbo, then a bigger fuel...

Unknown connector in front of radiator

@Old.Tony - where does it actually display the ambient temp? or is it more for the AC system?

Fan running all the time when engine off

I'd be checking the relays and fuses for the fans as well. Does the temp guage work as expected in the car?

9 Drive Throttle Controller - Review

Hmm... I think he might be talking about 2.6 on a EVC controller or something like that, not the 9 Drive? Setting 2 is sports mode and makes the throttle snappier on level 2.1, you can then ramp it to 2.9, level 3 is race mode and has 1-9. Remember, these units have 4 settings. Eco / Normal...

9 Drive Throttle Controller - Review

haha, ours must be behaving differently, because on 2.6 I'm barely resting my foot on the throttle and it's cruising up to 60k's like it did when I was on 1/4 throttle! Remember - stock is when you have it in the 'NOR' mode, 2.6 is just the default mode that the unit comes in when you first...

D40 Thai, no crank, Error Code U1000

I also learnt that you need a good chunky set of jumper leads for these cars. The standard cheapy petrol engine ones, won't cut it.

Spanish lift kit for Thai model

From everything I have seen when I was looking at doing something similar, I didn't see any difference when it came to suspension components. Although I was looking at doing it the cheap way of milled block on top of the shock and the knuckle at the back on the leaf spring. The same kits fit...

    Check engine light

CEL annoys me a little these days, on the newer cars it is almost always emissions related and not an actual detrimental fault with the car. In all honesty, get a cheap ELM327 ODB dongle, get the torque app for a few buck on your phone.. clear the CEL and then go and get your MOT / Pink Slip...

How did you go with the throttle controller?

    Cheap working obd scanners

Agree with Tony, I have a similar ELM327 dongle and use Torque, I also have a handheld unit which is a bit more in-depth made by Anceltech. It was about $130 from Amazon.. Although I needed that for other cars and specific functions that Torque couldn't do such as injector / battery...

9 Drive Throttle Controller - Review

All good mate, from my diminishing memory, it was the 809 plug for the D40 (mine is a VSK as well). When you check the listings, it looks like 3/4's of all manufacturers used the same pedal in their cars! Mine showed up in 1.5 weeks, I was genuinely surprised on how fast it came. I mounted...

9 Drive Throttle Controller - Review

In the past I've used EVC on previous cars such as my Subaru's / Holdens / Toyota's.. basically identical apart from the cost. 'Race' mode on the 9Drive I don't recommend, makes the pedal WAY too touchy, but 2.5 for me is the sweet spot.

9 Drive Throttle Controller - Review

@Tms40 keep in mind it's not making the engine work harder than it's limitations, it's just changing the responsiveness of the pedal. Where your 60% open throttle was registered at 3/4 pedal push, it's now at 1/4 pedal push. (as an example) My old girl is a 2013 with 270 on the clock, doesn't...

9 Drive Throttle Controller - Review

I know this is a touchy subject with some of you but if you haven't tried it, don't knock it. Picked up a digital throttle controller from Aliexpress for $42 delivered, brand is 9 Drive (809 cable for Nissan). No it doesn't give you more HP, but the way the power is delivered is absolutely...
