What scanner are you using? I've noticed that when I'm using Torque and ODB2, I'm actually getting more codes than when I do it with a semi-pro handheld scanner.

I did when I had my Lexus, even had to buy the special ODB2 cable for it. The lexus had pages and pages of settings to change and tinker with. The D40 Navara? what exactly are you planning on doing? the car has the tech of a Fuel Injected VK commodore.

Looks like we both learnt the hard way! One thing we can both vouch for is that drilling the bumper ain't much fun.

I'd suggest getting a tune done, you can definitely get some un-tapped power out of the 2.5, with relative safety and using all the stock equipment. With the diesel, you won't get a huge increase in KW's, but you definitely get the jump in Torque (which is what you want)

One small thing missing here is also the limitations of the turbo and the amount of fuel delivery you have. A turbo can't provide a limitless amount of boost, it is restricted to its size. 2-3 extra PSI isn't a problem, but if you want big boost you'll need a bigger turbo, then a bigger fuel...

@Old.Tony - where does it actually display the ambient temp? or is it more for the AC system?

I'd be checking the relays and fuses for the fans as well. Does the temp guage work as expected in the car?

I also learnt that you need a good chunky set of jumper leads for these cars. The standard cheapy petrol engine ones, won't cut it.

From everything I have seen when I was looking at doing something similar, I didn't see any difference when it came to suspension components. Although I was looking at doing it the cheap way of milled block on top of the shock and the knuckle at the back on the leaf spring. The same kits fit...

CEL annoys me a little these days, on the newer cars it is almost always emissions related and not an actual detrimental fault with the car. In all honesty, get a cheap ELM327 ODB dongle, get the torque app for a few buck on your phone.. clear the CEL and then go and get your MOT / Pink Slip...

Agree with Tony, I have a similar ELM327 dongle and use Torque, I also have a handheld unit which is a bit more in-depth made by Anceltech. It was about $130 from Amazon.. Although I needed that for other cars and specific functions that Torque couldn't do such as injector / battery...

In the past I've used EVC on previous cars such as my Subaru's / Holdens / Toyota's.. basically identical apart from the cost. 'Race' mode on the 9Drive I don't recommend, makes the pedal WAY too touchy, but 2.5 for me is the sweet spot.
