Yes you have to remove the mirror first clips out from the bottom ,once removed you can see the tabs holding the cover onto the mirror body...

This is a Typical D 40 wing mirror showing a removable section ,where the wing mirror can be tightened .

Might have to remove the outer casing to get to any adjustment .plenty of videos on youtube
