    Light me up!

Not sure there's a lot you can do with the headlights. If they're anything like the D22, they're awful. Also never seen as many brushtail possums on the road anywhere else, as they are in Tassie. I left my headlights standard and have always had a set of driving lights to go with the high...

d22 lift kit already installed do I need a body lift now?

What size tyres are you trying to fit?

d22 lift kit already installed do I need a body lift now?

For NSW it is a maximum 50mm raised suspension plus maximum of 7% increase in tyre diameter (over largest size on tyre placard) to a maximum lift of 75mm in total. There are also rules about max/min travel in either direction (from bumpstops) at the front. Think it's 1/3 - 2/3's. No specialized...

    Heavy Duty Idler Arm/Bracket

I'm skeptical of things in general that are claimed to be "heavy duty". Not always of course, some things are obviously heavy duty, but often it amounts to marketing (and higher price). At any rate the factory standard parts designed for this car are excellent quality, so anything of comparable...

    Looking to change tyres size

Looks like not many people are familiar with the 2wd. I know nothing about them. As you say the ST-R have 265/70 tyres on 16" rims as standard, but I have no idea whether they would fit yours. Know anyone with an ST-R that might let you try them for fit? Hopefully someone with experience will...

    New to D22’s

^ps. Though in practice you'll only fit about 6.5 litres of engine oil to get it "full" when you change it.

    Improving handling

Good to hear. Makes a difference when the suspension has some travel! lol. If you're after comfort you might find lower rated springs a little more forgiving (unless you need the 300kg rating for loads). The squeaking could be body mounts, but is more likely to be worn rubbers and bushes in...

    New to D22’s

Is the whirring bad, or loud? I vaguely remember the old hitachi turbo in mine used to give a whir before I changed it. Not that there was really much wrong with it and it would probably still be going. The impellar was worn and pitted though (probably from being hit with a constant pcv oil...

    Improving handling

Which type of "heavy duty" shockies did you use? If the front has sagged it could be too close to the bump stops. There is a formula in the manual to get it back to factory height. Would normally require a wheel alignment also. Or you could just go for somewhere in the middle of travel (between...

R51 Pathfinder loss of drive, goes to neutral

Guessing the op has long since resolved his problems. There's one particular and quite simple aftermarket conversion that fixes all of these problems. It's not cheap though. lol. https://www.carsales.com.au/editorial/details/toyota-landcruiser-200-series-what-you-need-to-know-129033/

D22 Zd30 engine rattling noise during acceleration

To resolve it would normally require finding what is rattling and fixing it? lol. (sorry 'bout that, couldn't resist). Have you tried getting someone to rev it, while looking under the bonnet to pinpoint the source of the noise?

    Suspension upgrade

ps. Tyre pressure can make a difference also. Seems normal for people to drive around in unloaded utes with 40 psi in the tyres. If you drop them to recommended pressure (think it's around 32 psi unloaded) it makes a difference and will usually hold the road better also..

    Suspension upgrade

You'll be driving around with no suspension on one side at the front and probably squashed up against the bump stop. It's not going to do your car any good that way, nor will it be safe. Never heard of a factory torsion bar snapping before (which doesn't mean much). As to expense, it depends...

    excessive oil in catch can

The best way to check is of a morning when it's cold before you drive it. Good idea to check when it's parked in the same spot also for consistency. It doesn't take much of a slope to really throw your reading out. Assuming that's all good, it seems a bit much IMO. They have to use some oil of...

    fuel conditioner

I think it amounts to personal preference. There seems very few impartial studies and from memory the ones that I was able to find (a while ago now, not sure about recent studies) weren't all that comprehensive and didn't really indicate a benefit. There are all sorts of claims that amount to...

    excessive oil in catch can

How much oil is it using? The level shouldn't really drop if you change it every 5,000kms.

    D22 Battery Light

Yeah, have raised it somewhat but I got new tyres and a wheel alignment straight afterwards. It steers much better now after doing it myself. Though it's only going to be as accurate as the floor is flat and level. Not sure it's a good idea to defame any particular place on a forum for various...

    D22 Battery Light

Oh, I tried. All booked out and I didn't have time to wait as it would have run out of rego (big fines here if you drive them like that). Have heard people say it's a high resistance in the dash itself, as the circuit goes to -ve via the alternator, it requires a rev for the alternator to...

    D22 Battery Light

ps. The last advice I had was that the alternator really should be changed, as a common problem with them is that the little "charging solenoid" packs it in. At this stage I wondered about my attire, thinking I might have put my clown suit on by accident that day, but no... I guess if you only...

    D22 Battery Light

Well, just had an unusual problem with the old "battery light on start up" foible, familiar to many zd30 owners. Always assumed it was just a foible rather than a problem. Where the induced voltage/current was insufficient to overcome all those diode junctions and get the regulator switching...
