I don't know the substance of the case but it seems that someone has achieved getting Nissan before the ACCC re the suspension on the D40. Frankly I've never had an issue with the suspension and there was a recall done a couple of years back. Check here...

I'll give shell a wrap - I now have refuelled my D40 122 times over 106000km since new and reckon that I've used Shell for at least 100 of those. Only time I don't use Shell is when I'm in a place where I can't get it. Works well for me.

Can I suggest that you remove the negative terminal from you battery and press the brake pedal......this will reset everything. A reboot of the ECU may fix it for you. It is highly unlikely that it will be the EGR block that's causing any problem and the ECU in pre 2010 models does not sense...

Not saying it will fix the problem....but just crack you fuel cap. I know it sounds odd but this seem to work for one of my work colleagues when his was persistently going into limp mode. Problem went away altogether when an aftermarket long rang tank was fitted together with a breather...

I'd try an insurance claim......it has got to be in the insurers interest to cover your keys rather then cover the possible loss of the vehicle. Be worth a go at least!

It would be good if someone who has the problem could upload a sound recording.....might help the rest of us understanding the 'rattle' vice all the other noises coming from the donk.

Looks like you and me are doing something wrong joshman....I too get 12-13 L/100km.....and 17-20 L/100 km when towing my camper. 17 on the blacktop and good gravel.....up to 20 when off the beaten track.

Then IMHO your mechanic hasn't told you the facts. The EGR was in engines long before the 3.0ltr TD in the patrol and D22s - indeed it was in my 2.8tdi Patrol. It was one of the very first emission control measures fitted to engines and for the most part was done as an afterthought....newer...

That sucks Jason....the dealer should have at least approached Nissan on your behalf with a technical appreciation of the situation....that is itself would probably give you standing with Fair Trading.

I use Shell Helix Ultra fully synthetic and so do the 2 x Nissan dealers who I've used to service my car. These days I supply the oil as I am lucky enough to get it at a special rate through a family connection.
