    Yeah off the positive terminal

On the back of the tow truck again.....

Yep that's what it is Tony.....bloody genuine Nissan part is $87. I will make sure I get the old one back and see if I can repair it.

On the back of the tow truck again.....

Only problem with that approach Dave is that the bloody thing is sitting on the back of a tow truck and locked up in his yard until Monday morning

On the back of the tow truck again.....

My ute just got picked up for a free ride to Nowra City Nissan........lack of electrical supply to the started, dash, headlights etc etc etc. Even the door locks won't operate. Couldn't find any fuseable links/fuses blown and did the usual microsoft solution approach of disconnecting the...

    Removing engine from transmission

There's a workshop manual for the D40 on this forum somewhere but I can't remember where. Perhaps you could try a few search options and see if you can find it. Maybe someone else can remember where it is and point you to it. Good luck.

Did I purchase the wrong Navara...

True and that was my ute.....but those sorts of things can happen to anyone. That I lost a couple of ltrs of fluid from the auto transmission due to a cracked filler tube....the guys that looked at this prior to going to Nissan for repairs told me that in their opinion the crack had been there...

    diff ratio,s 09 nav thai....

Now might be a good time to (1) read the relevant section of your handbook and (2) Have a look here to understand how 4WD systems work http://www.howstuffworks.com/four-wheel-drive.htm

    diff ratio,s 09 nav thai....

All good to tow in low range when off road but DO NOT do it for too far when on the bitumen as you won't be worrying about diff ratios but rather how much it is going to cost you for new diffs. The D40 is a part time 4WD and doesn't have a locking centre differential......so if you use 4WD on a...

Did I purchase the wrong Navara...

You will have no trouble on Cape York. The D40 (with the 2.5) is as capable as any other unmodified ute. Attached pics are of my trip to Cape York Jul-Sep 2012 and I towed my 1.5 tonne off road camper. One thing though......DO NOT do this trip without first fitting (1) All Terrain or better...

Have a steep driveway.....a word of caution

Rotating the tank wouldn't do the trick for me as I have a 150ltr aftermarket tank. But the tank isn't the problem in my case as it was full to the brim when this happened to me. Never had it happen before in any situation.

And then at the 120K Service

All done in 2.5 days mate. Great service from these guys.

    Bad smell from aircon

Might be worthwhile to check your in-cabin pollen filters (there are 2 in a slot located behind the lower glove compartment). Any contaminants should be trapped here. I just replaced mine again after my Cape York trip last year....and lots of dust and they were totally blocked with crap...

    Excellent fuel economy

I too struggle to get 12 in fact I struggle to get 13 ......I get a consistent 13.5 averaged over 110000km. The ute is heavy as you can see from all the aftermarket stuff and I've given up long ago trying to get the 10 and under figures. I use mine a lot off road and towing my 1.5 tonne off...

Yay timing chain is on the way out

3 days in the shop and just got my D40 back with new timing everything and done under Nissan Extended Warranty @ 111000km. Thought I go down this path rather than fitting the aftermarket job as it (1) was free and (2) will probably sell the car before the next 100000km clicks over. The list of...

Trouble with the ECU warning light

Could be a number of things Aaron....you've picked up crappy diesel, your MAF is dirty, your blowing a bit of soot etc etc etc. Your DPF seems to be working like it should ie it burns off if you get over 80 kph for about 15 minutes. Check the turbo vacuum hoses....one of mine found it way onto...

Trouble with the ECU warning light

Are you sure you are talking about the Check Engine warning light? What you describe there seems more like the DPF (ie Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light.....this one you do have to get up to speed to put the light out as per the handbook. The DPF issue has been discussed heaps on this...

Yay timing chain is on the way out

Mine has gone at the 110000km mark as well......fortunately it will be replaced under warranty by Nissan - check here: http://www.navara.asia/showthread.php?t=19573&goto=newpost

    Fuel filter change over

The filter in my 2008 D40 is very different to those in the D22. Indeed the one in the D22 is exactly the same as the one that was in my 2.8TDI Patrol. The D40 filter is a fully self contained piece of kit.....electrics, water trap, and canister are one piece. The primer is a bulb external to...
